2025 Emerging Leader Awardees Announced
|

In January, we announced the five newest recipients of The Mark Foundation Emerging Leader Award: Liron Bar-Peled, PhD; Kai Kessenbrock, PhD; Ansuman Satpathy, MD, PhD; Mara Sherman, PhD; and Daniel Wahl, MD, PhD.
Since launching in 2018, the Emerging Leader Award program has granted more than $40 million to support the high-risk, high-reward cancer research ideas of dozens of exceptional early-career investigators.

Introducing the Mark Foundation Center for Lineage Plasticity
|
|
The Mark Foundation and Torrey Coast Foundation have jointly awarded $10 million to launch the Mark Foundation Center for Lineage Plasticity, a collaborative initiative between researchers at Columbia University and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. Building on the success of a previous Endeavor Award, the Center is taking a multi-cancer approach to find shared vulnerabilities — and potential therapeutic targets — in bladder and esophageal cancers.

Targeting Biomarker Discovery in Follicular Lymphoma

While follicular lymphoma is often slow-moving, disease progression remains difficult to predict. To address this clinical challenge, The Mark Foundation for Cancer Research and the Follicular Lymphoma Foundation have partnered to co-fund new ASPIRE Awards that will utilize innovative technologies to develop biomarkers that can help guide personalized treatment.

Breaking New Ground in the Fight Against Gastric and Esophageal Cancers
|

Gastric and esophageal cancers are among the deadliest malignancies, yet diagnostic and treatment options are limited. The Mark Foundation for Cancer Research, DeGregorio Family Foundation, and Torrey Coast Foundation have partnered to offer three new ASPIRE Awards that fund high-risk, high-reward projects targeting upper GI cancers.
