Alex Knaster is Chairman and CEO of Pamplona Capital Management, an investment management firm he founded in 2004, with private equity, hedge fund, and fund of funds operations. Alex has more than 35 years of experience in the finance industry, having held senior positions at Simmons and Co., Bankers Trust, Deutsche Morgan Grenfell, Credit Suisse First Boston, and Alfa Bank in cities including Houston, New York, Moscow, and London.

Alex holds a BS in Electrical Engineering and Mathematics from Carnegie Mellon University, an MBA from Harvard Business School, a PhD in Economics from the Russian Academy of Science, and an MS degree in Molecular Biology from NYU.

Alex serves as an Executive Fellow at the London Business School and as a member of the faculty at their Department of Strategy and Entrepreneurship.

Alex is a Member of the Board of Trustees of New York University, a Member of the Board of Dean’s Advisors at Harvard Business School, and serves on the President’s Global Advisory Council at Carnegie Mellon University. In addition to The Mark Foundation, Alex actively supports select other educational and healthcare-focused charities, and was a co-founder of the Genesis Philanthropy Group.
