Director, Grants Administration


Rebecca Liu joined The Mark Foundation as Scientific Program Officer in October 2018 and became Director, Grants Administration in January 2021. She came to the Foundation directly from March of Dimes where she served as Director of Research Programs managing biomedical research grants in the areas of development, pregnancy and preterm birth. In that role, Rebecca oversaw the grant cycles of all programs in the research portfolio, maintained critical relationships with grantees and expert reviewers, and educated lay audiences of the organization’s funded projects. She received a BA in Biochemistry from Smith College and a PhD in Immunology from The University of Chicago. Her graduate research focused on ways to activate the immune system to recognize solid tumors using molecules associated with autoimmune disorders. Prior to that, Rebecca worked at the University of California, Berkeley conducting research on oncoviruses and breast cancer.
