Dr. Freire has discovered that a novel class of cis-regulatory elements, characterized by large AT-rich regions around promoters, drives Menin recruitment, a crucial component of the MLL1/2 methyltransferase complex, a target in acute myeloid leukemia. This project aims to elucidate the position, composition, and functional impact of these AT-rich flanks, providing insights into the unique recruitment mechanisms of Menin.
